About the name
Otto Neururer (1882-1940) was born in Piller, North Tyrol. He studied at the Vinzentinum and at the seminary in Bressanone. After his ordination, he worked in pastoral ministry and, in 1932, became parish priest of Götzens. He advised a woman against marrying a divorced National Socialist who had left the Church. As a result, he was arrested and later killed in the Buchenwald concentration camp. In 1996, Pope John Paul II beatified him.
